WHATEVER YOUR AGE OR ABILITY
FIND YOUR LEVEL AND TAKE ADVANTAGE
Our club boasts a vibrant junior programme, with approximately 1,200 juniors participating in weekly sessions. The junior programme is divided into a Development Programme and a Performance Programme.
Over 30 coaches work for The Parklangley Club, all of whom are qualified, licensed, DBS checked and have all relevant first aid qualifications.
They follow a set programme designed by the LTA to give variety and allow your child to progress at his or her own speed.
We offer a comprehensive junior group coaching programme at multiple locations, catering to new and recreational players. Depending on the child’s age and year of birth, this will determine what ball colour they should play in. How to determine the colour ball and level your child should be playing in please see link to LTA tennis stages.
PERFORMANCE PROGRAMME
The Parklangley Club is recognised as the top performance club in Kent, and children who show particular talent are offered the opportunity to join our performance programme where many children have achieved County, National and International standard. Currently we have five internationally ranked players 18+.
This phase teaches children between the ages of three and five how to enjoy the game through a series of fun activities with the aim of improving their balance, co-ordination, agility, movement, and racket and ball skills.
MINI TOTS | 3-4 YEARS
Players learn to serve, rally and score with a slow ball, as well as learning the movement and co-ordination skills needed for tennis.
RED STAGE | 7-8 YEARS
Players are encouraged to play fun competitions in teams and individuals, with short matches using tie-break scoring.
Players develop a rounded game learning a range of techniques and tactics. Courts are bigger and wider than the red stage but still smaller than full-size tennis courts.
ORANGE STAGE | 8-9 YEARS
There are team and individual competitions with matches using tie-break scoring.
Played on a full size tennis court, with bigger rackets and balls which are a little softer than yellow balls.
GREEN STAGE | 9-10 YEARS
It’s the next stage before moving on to full compression balls on a full sized court and helps players develop all aspects of their game.
It’s all about playing on a full size court with the same size balls the pros use. Kids will continue to explore different styles on court and start to choose their own.
YELLOW STAGE | 11+ YEARS
By this point we hope kids will be tennis players, and fans of the game for life!
